CEREAL AND FORAGE INSECTS
CORN EARWORM -- moderate to heavy infestations in Hie ear and Whorl of corn throughout the State.
EUROPEAN CORN BORER -- infesting 20 per cent of the corn ob served in one field in Franklin County.
DESCRIPTION --- cream to purple in color and approximately one inch in length when full grown.
DAMAGE -- bore into the stalk and work up and down. This weakens the plant and causes it to lodge after a strong wind.
GRANULATE CUTWORM -- light feeding damage to the foliage of peanuts in southcentral and southwesf Georgia.
DESCRIPTION -- tan to light brown and about one and one half inches in length.
DAMAGE -- hides just beneath the soil around the peanuts during the day and comes out at night to feed on the foliage.
GARDEN INSECTS
CABBAGE LOOPER -- heavy infestations on, cabbage and colfards in Hall and Walton Counties.
HARLEQUIN BUG -- heavy infestation on turnips and coHards in Had County.
COLORADO POTATO BEETLE -- heavy infestations on Irish potatoes hi Walton, Morgan, Gwinnett and Hall Counties.
TOMATO FRUITWORM -- light to moderate infestation of the fruit of tomatoes in southcentral and southwest Georgia.
MEXICAN BEAN BEETLE -- light to heavy infestations on beans through out the State.
TOBACCO INSECTS
TOBACCO FLEA BEETLE -- light to moderate infestations on tobacco
in South Georgia. TOBACCO BUDWORM -- light to moderate infestations on tobacco in
South Georgia.

COTTON INSECTS
BOLLWORM -- counts were made in 20 southcentral and southwest
Georgia cotton fields. Egg counts ranged from 3 to 11 per 100
terminals, averaging 6 per 100 terminals. Larval (worm) counts
ranged from 1 to 6 per 100 terminals, averaging 4 per 100 ter
minals.
Counts were made in 23 northwest, north and uoHheutt Georgia
fields. Egg counts ranged from 0 to 40 per 100 terminals, averag ing 12 per 10 terminals. Larval (worm) counts ranged from 0 to 2 per 100 terminals, averaging less than one per 100 terminals.
CABBAGE LOOPER -- light to moderate infestations on cotton in southcentral and southwest Georgia.
BEET ARMYWORM -- Very light infestations on cotton in MitoheN and Sumter Counties.
DESCRIPTION -- color varies from light to dark green and ft h about 1 1 /4 inches long. There is a dark spot on the second segment
of the thorax (chest). DAMAGE -- feeds on the leaves, squares, blooms and boNs of cotton
and is quite difficult to control.
