Obituary
"God saw the road was getting rough and the hills were harder to climb"
So on the morning ofJanuary 9,1993, the angel of death gently closed her eyes and whispered, "Ruby, peace be thine."
Ruby Tolbert Wilson, the youngest daughter of the late Elridge and Selena Maxwell Tolbert, was born on August 13, 1924 in Augusta, Georgia.
At an early age, she was converted, baptized and fellowshipped at Thankful Baptist Church under the pastorage of the late Rev. M. J. Sherrod, Sr. She was an active member of the Junior Church during her youth and a member of the Senior Choir as an adult. She was faithful to the choir until her health began to fail.
She attended the public schools of Richmond County.
On July 27, 1942, she was married to the late Willie Wilson. This union was blessed with two daughters. One daughter preceded her in death.
She was a loyal employee, good neighbor, and devoted mother. She will be missed by her family, those whom she loved, and by those who loved her.
Survivors are: two daughters, Mrs. Betty W. Green, Augusta, Ga. and Mrs. Fannie M. Keeton, New Haven, Conn.; one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Ferguson, New York City; two sons-in-law, Mr. Eugene (Bobby) Green, Charlotte, N.C. and Mr. Johnny Roundtree, Augusta, Ga.; two granddaughters, Miss Kimberly Green, Augusta, Ga. and Miss Stephanie Dicks, New Haven, Conn.; nine grandsons, Mr. Lorenzo (Butchie) Wilson, Mr. Terry Geiger, Mr. Anthony (Tony) Geiger, Mr. Jonathan Span, Mr. Ronald Roundtree and Mr. Ashely Roundtree all of Augusta, Ga., Mr. Micheal Dicks, Mr. Steven Dicks and Mr. Jermine Dicks all of New Haven, Conn.; two granddaughters-in-law, Mrs. Carrie M. Geiger and Ms. Georgia Lamb both of Augusta, Ga.; a devoted nephew, Mr. Fred Grant, Maryland; two godsons, Mr. James Brannon and Mr. William Stallings both of Augusta, Ga.; devoted friends, Mrs. Marguerite Brannon, Mrs. Eloise Hayne and Mrs. Louise Lott, all of Augusta, Ga.; five great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
