** O B I T U A R Y **
M/SGT., Retired, Jessie L. Williams, Born May 22, 1927 in Marshall, Texas, Died in Augusta, Georgia, November 9/10, 1974.
His friends called him " Jessie" and he was an inspiration to all who knew him. He was always cheerful and had a friendly greeting for everyone.
Other than his Wife and Family Jessie had two great loves. The Masonic Or der and the US Army. His tremendous love for his fellow man was displayed at all these levels.
He was an outstanding soldier and achieved the rank of Master Sergeant in the service before retiring. He also received numerous awards and citations for his de dication to duty. Among them was the Bronze Star. He was held in high esteem by his subordinates and was given the highest respect by his superiors.
He was a faithful member of the Masonic Order. He was a member of the New Era Lodge No. 107, Lebanon Consistory No. 28, Stolkin Temple No. 22 and affiliated with the Lucy Laney Chapter No. 20 OES. He was always striving for perfection in himself and the order. He endeavored to live up to the guidelines and decrees set forth for one of the Masonic order. He was always teaching others, counseling and aiding Brothers in distress. He was a guiding light for other Masons to follow.
He was a hard working member of Tabernacle Baptist Chruch. His Christian character showed through in all his endeavors. He was a member of the Usher Board.
" Jessie" tried to achieve an excellence in human growth and spiritual glory and all who met him were contaminated by this constant demonstration of Kinship, Fraternal brotherhood, Christian living and just plain friendliness.
He was a faithful and loving husband and tried to perfect and personify his love for his wife. He followed the teaching of his father and mother and in a sense became and ideal son while he chose a different way of life from his sisters and bro thers they knew he could be depended on as a brother to provide them love, com panionship, and any kind of help. He tried to be a strong and guiding father and raise his child in the same Godly manner he was raised, with love and guidance.
Only God himself is aware of why Jessie's family and friends must suffer this loss. But our loss is the Diety's gain. Perhaps he has called upon Jessie to give us a message and bring us all together again.
M/SGT. Williams is survived by his wife Betty Ann; his daughter, Patricia Sutton; his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Williams, Sr.; six brothers; three sisters and many nieces and nephews.
One of Jessie's favorite Masonic passages was: " Let my soul return to the immortal spirit of God and then let my body, which ends in ashes, return to dust."
It is done Oh Sublime Prince

CONSOLATION
There is never a day so dreary But God can make it bright,
And unto the soul that trusts Him, He giveth songs in the night
There is never a path so hidden, But God can lead the way,
If we seek for the Spirit's guidance And patiently wait and pray.
There is never a cross so heavy But the nail-scarred hands are there,
Outstretched in tender compassion The burden to help us bear.
There is never a heart so broken, ' But the loving Lord can heal.
The heart that was pierced on Calvary Doth still for His loved ones feel.
There is never a life so darkened, So hopeless and unblessed,
But may be filled with the light of God And enter His promised rest
There is never a sin or sorrow, There is never a care or loss,
But that we may bring to Jesus And leave at the foot of the cross.
