Feel no guilt in laughter, she knows how much you care, -Feel no sorrow in a smile that sh e 's not here to share.
You cannot grieve forever, she would not want you to, -She 'd hope that you can carry on, the way you always do.
So talk about the good times and the ways you showed you cared, -The days you spent together, all the happiness you shared.
Let memories surround you.
A word someone may say, -Will suddenly recapture a time, an hour, a day
That brings her back as clearly as though she was still here, -Andfills you with the feelings that she is always near
For i fyou keep these moments, you will never be a part, -And she will live forever locked safe within your heart.

Mrs. Mary Thomas Wallace 1909-2010
Mary Wallace placed her head upon His breast and breathed her life out sweetly, peacefully and quietly on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 about 12:30 p.m.. What a smooth transition! As we observed her on her journey along life's highway, especially these last few days, she was so focused on getting to her heavenly home. She didn't show a sign of pain or discomfort. She went so peacefully.
Born to the late Azalene Brown and Henry Thomas in rural Burke County, Georgia, this Centenarian, Mary Thomas Wallace, was born in March, 1909.
She attended Pine Hill Elementary School and also the high school in Waynesboro, GA. At an early age, she was baptized at the Pine Hill Baptist Church in Waynesboro where she served diligently for many years before and after moving to Augusta.
She was married to Lester Wallace who preceded her in death. To this union, one son, Lester Wallace, Jr., was born. He went home to be with the Lord at 23 months. Most of her relatives preceded her in death. She loved her God, her family, her church, people (especially children). She received so much joy as she cared for three adorable young children: Tyrone Davis, Katonya Stokes, and Rodney McFadden.
In her earlier years, she taught school in the rural schools of Burke County. She witnessed great accomplishments of her pupils who still exclaim how they treasure the valuable lessons they learned and how effective she was as an inspirational, motivating teacher. She was a natural "non-degreed" teacher.
After moving to Augusta, she joined the Antioch Baptist Church and was a faithful member for over 60 years, serving as a Sunday School Teacher, BTU/BTPU Leader, the Mission, the Gospel Choir, Fellowship Circle, Bible School, just to name a few. She received such joy chairing committees.

Mary Wallace was a Christian, a lady, a friend, a hard-working mother who raised a daughter and loved and cared for her dear Uncle Hamp. Her last place of employment was with the Atlanta Life Insurance Company which gave her an opportunity to meet and talk to so many people.
Upon her separation from the company in the late 1950's, she spent many prosperous, productive years making a happy home for her family and friends to visit, sculpting a beautiful lawn with varied flowers and rose gardens. She loved traveling with her daughter and grandchildren to other states, going to college football games, to graduations, visiting family out of state and other recreational sites. Although she had health issues these last 2-1/2 years, she still had that vibrant personality, quick wit, and a bit feisty at times. She still had immeasurable strength. The doctors and health care professionals often commented on her appearance and heroic strength to be a lady of 101 years old.
She lived long enough to see so many things, to go so many places, to touch so many lives, to teach so many lessons, to draw closer and closer to the Lord.
As she transitioned to her heavenly home, the Lord was there to take her by virtue of Angels and ministers of grace in her sleep. He knew she had sojourned here and served well; therefore, He would not let her suffer. Her soul was anchored in Jesus Christ. To God Be The Glory!
She leaves to mourn her transition and cherish her memories: a devoted daughter, Dorothy Moore Gilbert: three loving and supportive grandchildren whom she loved dearly: Reginald Marc Gilbert, Rhonda Maria Vivor (Kodjo in Las Vegas) of Augusta, and Ronald Maurice Gilbert of Charlotte, NC., her great grandson, her "pride and joy", DaQuan Pino-Gilbert of Wilmington, NC. Even though she was in her 90's she enjoyed playing ball and other games with him. She is survived by a cousin, Mattie Lee Bostic of Fort Lauderdale, FL.; one Goddaughter, Denisha Brown of Union City, GA. She was so blessed, and she also leaves to mourn her passing, a gracious host of extended family members and friends that are just too numerous to list. She loved each of you dearly.
