Miss D ella Mae Tompkins departed th is l i f e suddenly Dec. 24, 1982. She was bom July 26, 1943, in Plum Branch, S.C.
At an e a rly age she jo in ed the New Hope Baptist Church. She served f a it h f u lly in the Gospel Chorus and on theUshers Board u n til her health perm itted her to relinquish her participation.
D ella was a graduate o f Mims High School, Class o f 62. She attended Morris C o llege, Sumter, S.C ., and graduated from Wavery School o f Beauty Culture. She was a R egistered Cosmetologist by profession .
She leaves to mourn, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Tompkins, Sr. o f the home, two daughters, S a llie Marie and Melinda Tompkins o f Plum Branch, S.C., three s is t e r s , Mrs.Derotha T. Holloway, Mrs. Jessie T. P rice o f Plum Branch, S .C ., Mrs. Maggie T. Brown o f Columbia, S.C., f i v e broth ers, Joseph J r . , James T . , Floyd E ., Larry D. Tompkins o f Plum Branch S.C. and P h illip Tompkins o f the U.S. Navy, stationed in C a lifo rn ia . Seven aunts, four uncles, three brothers-in-law, four sisters-in -law , eight n eices, s ix nephews, and a host o f other r e la t iv e s and frien d s.
