Clementine was named by her sister Ann as nam esake o f W inston Churchill's wife. A fter finishing Burke County schools, she m arried her high school sweetheart the late N oble C. Benefield o f M idville. G A . During this forty-three year union four children were born.
In M idville. G A . she taught a t Baxley G rove in a one-room schoolhouse for several years until they moved to Augusta. G A . In Augusta, she worked a t the G epfert Drug Company lunch counter for many years before working for Sky City in Augusta. G A . Edwards D epartment Store in Clearwater. SC. C loses in M artinez. G A an d finally JCmart in N orth Augusta. SC until she retired.
Seven years after N oble's death. Clementine m arried Jerry Thomas an d enjoyed eleven years until his death.
