As we gather here today to celebrate the homegoing of our beloved George, it is appropriate, even in the midst of our bereavement, to reminisce about the years which God allowed us to share.

He was bom May 2, 1907, in Richmond County. He was the beloved son of the late Dwellie and Mamie Singfield. He departed this life on Saturday, October 17, 1998.

Having been brought up in a Christian home, George was

converted at an early age and was baptized at Tabernacle Baptist

Church, by Dr. Charles T. Walker. Because of his love and

devotion to Tabernacle, he remained a life long dedicated

member.

r

He was united in holy matrimony to lola Singfield. During this marriage they were blessed with one daughter, Mauiie and two sons, George, Jr. and Robert George later married the late Maggie Singfield, with whom he shared a happy life until her death.

After several years of working for the Railroad and living in New York, he retired and moved back to Augusta to live.

His retirement did not last because he soon accepted employment at the Augusta National where he was loved and respected by his supervisors and co-workers. He worked there for over fifteen years before retiring for the second time.

When his health permitted, George enjoyed the activities at Shiloh Community Center where he had fellowship with other Senior Citizens. He also enjoyed participating in the Retirees group at Tabernacle.

Left to treasure his memory: one daughter, Mamie

McDonald, Augusta. GA; two sons, George Singfield, Jr.,

Bethpage Long Island NY and Robert Singfield, Wheaton, MD;

one son-in-law, daughter-in-law,

Peter McDonald, Augusta, GA; one Doris Singfield, Wheaton, MD; two brothers,

Charles Singfield, Chester, SC and Birmingham, AL; one sister, Ella Lassiter, brother-in-law, William Searles, Bath, SC;

Dont grieve for me, for now Im free Imfollowing the path God has laidfor me.
I took His hand when I heard Him call I turned my back and left it all I could not stay another day To laugh, to love, to work or play,
Tasks left undone must stay that way Ifoundpeace at the end of the day.
If my parting has left a void Thenfill it with rememberedjoys. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss Oh yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow, My lifes been full, I savored much, Goodfriends, good times, a loved ones touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief Dont lengthen it now with undue grief Lift up your hearts, and share with me, God wanted me NOW, He has set me free.
