`Zty S z ., the fifth child of eight

children, was born on December 9, 1928, to the late Deacon Willie Phinizy and

the late Estella Dandridge Phinizy in the rural-farmland of Barnwell County,

South Carolina. He departed this life on Monday, December 26, 2005 at Aiken

Regional Medical Centers, Aiken, South Carolina.

During his childhood and adolescence, Charlie Willie's siblings included one sister and six brothers: Augustus, John, Miller, Carrie Bell, William, Jethro, and Willie James. The eight children grew in Love and Grace as the years unfolded, and all remained bonded in Unity until God summoned some of them to their eternal resting place. Three brothers, William, Miller and Willie James Phinizy preceded him in death.

Charlie's formal educational pursuits were acquired while he attended the Rosenwahl Parochoial School, located in the Old Ellenton Community. He loved to read and grow personally and professionally. He was considered by colleagues as a man of deep insight and strong philosophical convictions.

It was in the Old Ellenton Community that Charlie Willie met his wife of 36 years, the late Mrs. Elizabeth Long Phinizy. It was to this holy and blessed union that five children were bom: Gladys and Laura Ann, along with their mother, have been summoned to be forever with the Lord! As was the custom in yesteryear, Charlie Willie and Elizabeth, both of whom were gifted with their hands, provided a balanced lifestyle for all of their offsprings, to include a college education for each child, pending their goals and aspirations. All who knew him spoke with much pride and enthusiasm about his care, concern, devotion and loyalty to his family.

A recapitulation of the contributions of Rev. Phinizy in the workplace includes: A generalist with Shepherd's Lumber Company (6 years); E.I. DuPont (Westinghouse), from which he retired in 1979 with 26 years of service. In addition to his performance in the industrial sector, Rev. Phinizy pastured the following churches: Union Baptist Church 1960-2005; Runs Baptist Church 1980-2005; Spring Grove Baptist Church, Pine Hill Baptist Church, Zion Hill Baptist Church, Muiphy Ebenezer Baptist Church, Thompson Bridge Baptist Church, Mt. Harmon Baptist Church and Second Binds Grove Baptist Church.

Before his pastoral tenures began, Rev. Phinizy had previously served in various leadership capacities in his native and home church - The Runs Baptist Church he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, Choir Leader, Baptismal Pool Shepherd, etc. He delivered his first sermon in August 1954

In October 2003, Rev. Phinizy resigned as the Moderator of the Four Mile Education and Missionary Baptist Association. He gave 23 years of spiritual administration and divine leadership. On behalf of the association, he made hundreds of journeys to various cities and counties around the State of South Carolina. Some of his happiest and most gratifying experiences at the State level included sharing the platform on more than one occasion with his friend, President Givens and other distinguished humanitarians. Having graduated from the Morris College School of Religion many years ago, Rev. Phinizy took much delight upon his frequent returns to the Morris College Campus in Sumter, South Carolina.

His love for the churches in the CSRA was demonstrated via his unannounced visits and'pop-calls to their various services and celebrations. He loved everybody. His teaching of religious principles was a direct reflection of his own daily lifestyle. He always provided wise counseling and support to the community and his friends.
Rev. Phinizy knew that God's Grace was always sufficient. His faith and trust in God were unmatched and unfaltering, to say the least.
He received numerous plagues and certificates of recognition for his outstanding contributions to humanity. No matter how much has been said about him, no matter how miraculously GOD kept raising up his servant, the Rev. Phinizy still proclaimed the indisputable Gospel of Jesus Christ. With a motto of "Whatever you do, let it be real," surely, he remained on the main line and remained faithful until the Lord called him from labor to Glory.
Rev. Phinizy is lovingly survived by his son, Charlie (Rose) Phinizy, Jr. of West Covina CA; two daughters, Olivia (Erwin) Williams of Columbia, SC, and Vemelle (Thomas) Payton of Aiken, SC; 11 grandsons, Jimmy Lamar, Jr., Kenneth Lamar, Ramel Lamar, Micheal Lamar, Xavier Lamar, Charlie Phinizy III, Andrea Phinizy, Jason Murray, Brian Payton, Christopher Payton, and Justin Payton; two granddaughter, Trina Phinizy and Chinyere Williams; three brothers, Augusta Phinizy and John Phinizy both of Bronx, NY and Jethro Phinizy, Pittsburgh, CA; a sister, Carrie Phinizy, Bronx, NY; six great grandchildren; a host of loving cousins and sorrowing friends.

Don 7 grieve fo r me, fo r now I 'mfree I 'm following the path God laidfor me; I took His hand when I heard Him call,
I turn my back and left it all.
1 could not stay another day 'o laugh, to love, to work or play; Task left undone must stay that way, I found that place at the close o f day.
I f my parting has left a void, Then fill it with rememberingjoy, A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss; Ah, yes these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times o fsorrow, I wish you the sunshine o f tomorrow; My life's been full, I 've savored much, Goodfriends, good times, a loved one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief Don 7 lengthen it now with undue grief; Lift up y o u r heart and share with me, God wanted me now - He has set mefree.
