Obituary

She closed her eyes, to fall asleep To draw a labored breath, She found release from daily cares In what we know as death.

" ,

Mrs. Elizabeth Gibson was born in Charleston, SC on October 29, 1899 to Mr. and Mrs. George Gibson, both of whom preceded her in death.
Following an extended illness Mrs. Elizabeth Gibson McDonald entered into rest at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28, 1990 at her resident on East Orange St.
She was affectionately known to many family members and friends as "Ma Bill" throughout this community.
"Ma Bill" was joined in holy matrimony to Mr. Mid McDonald who preceded her in death. To this union four children were born whom they named Louisa, Charles, Northa Bell and Margaret.
At an early age, she became converted and joined the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Manchester, GA where she was a faithful member and served as treasurer of the Usher Board. In 1949 she moved to Fitzgerald, GA and join ed the New Providence Baptist Church. In her later years, due to illness, she moved her membership to the Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
She was known as a great wife, mother, grandmother and friend. "Ma Bill" was not active in any civic or community organizations, but she was a friend to the homeless of Fitzgerald.
She would never say no. One of her favorite sayings was "As long as there is breath in this old body, I will feed and sleep the children."
She leaves to cherish her loving and fond memories three daughters: Mrs. Louisa T. Langford of Birmingham, AL, Mrs. Northa B. Redmond of Valdosta, GA and Mrs. Margaret McDonald Taylor of Fitzgerald, GA; one adopted daughter, Ms. Pat Terrell of Augusta, GA; one son, Mr. Charles McDonald of Sparta, GA; two adopted sons: Mr. James Hall and Mr. Bobby Hall, both of Fitzgerald, GA; two sons-in-law: Mr. Charlie Redman of Valdosta, GA and Mrs. Rufus Taylor of Fitzgerald, GA; two daughters-in-law: Mrs. Shelley Hall and Mrs. Ruby Hall, both of Fitzgerald, GA; grandchildren: Ms. Ozella Todd, Ms. Elizabeth Carter, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Todd, Mr. and Mrs. Charles McDonald Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Terry McDonald (Marilyn), Ms. Nettie Jean Red mond, Ms. Evelyn Holley, Ms. Loretta McDonald, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Barber, Ms. June McDonald, Mr. and Mrs. I. W. Barber, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin McDonald, Mr. and Mrs. Martin, Ms. CeEsther McDonald, Mr. Gary McDonald, Ms. Cathy McDonald.
One grandchild, Ms. Beverly Jordan, preceded her in death. Twenty-three great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, a dear friend, Mr. Eunice Billingslea of Fitzgerald, GA. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and loving friends.
If death should beckon me with out stretched hands and whisper softly of "an unknown Land",
I shall not be afraid to go, For though the path I do not know, I taketh Deaths hand without fear From He who safely brought me here will also take me safely back, And through in many things I lack,
He will not let me go alone
Into the "Valley Thats Unknown",
So reach out and take Deaths hands,
And journey to the "Promised Land"
