Funeral services for Mrs. Hattie D. Johnson, Saturday, November 23, 1985, 2:00 p.m., Water Branch Baptist Church, [Grovetown, Georgia], Rev. L. J. Tanksley, officiating

* * OBITUARY **
Life, death and eternity are three of the most powerful words in the English language. Life is given to man in infancy and is his until death. At the coming of death man loses only the earthly body but the eternal soul of a Christian lives on.
With feelings of deepest sorrow the Johnson family and Water Branch Baptist Church must record the passing of one of its beloved and respected members, Sister Hattie D. Johnson who departed this life on November 19, 1985.
She was the daughter of the late Doss Douglas, Sr. and Lucy Blount Douglas, born October 10, 1890.
She was converted and baptized at an early age at the Water Branch Baptist Church. She was a honorary member of the Gospel Choir. She served as treasurer of the missionary society and was a member of Club No. 5.
, She leaves to mourn her passing two sons, Robert Johnson,
Augusta Ga., and James Johnson, Sr., Harlem, Ga.; one sister, Louise D. Crawford, Augusta, GA.; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Clara Johnson and Rebecca Johnson; three brothers-in-law, four sister-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
"Servant of God well done Rest from thy love employ The battle fought, the victory won
Enter thy Master's joy"

A SOUL S SOLILOQUY
Today the journey is ended. I have worked out the mandates of fate. Naked, alone, undefended. I knock at the uttermost gate. Behind, is life and it's longing It's trials, it's troubles, it's sorrows. Beyond is the infinite morning Of a day without a tomorrow. Go back to dust and decay, Body grown weary and cold. You are worthless to me from today, No longer my soul can you hold. I lay you down gladly forever, For a life that is better than this I go where partings n'er sever. You into oblivion's abys. Lo! The gate swings wide at my knockingAcross endless reaches I see Lost friends with laughter come flocking To bring a glad welcome to me. Today the maze has been threaded, This is the ending of strife. Say not that death should be dreaded Tis but the beginning of life!
