Mr. Charlie Lee Johnson, the son of the late Jerry and Hannah Lee Johnson, was bom in Edgefield County, South Carolina on December 11, 1917. He departed this life on June 27, 1994 at the University Hospital, Augusta, Georgia.
At an early age, he confessed Christ and joined the Spring Grove Baptist Church where he served until death.
Beacuse of his faithfulness to his church he was added to the Board of Deacons. In this capacity he served faithfully. He also served as the Senior Choir Leader. His favorite selections were "Amazing Grace" and "I Don't Mind Kneeling."
He was married to the late Fannie Philpot who preceded him in death.
Dea. Johnson was dedicated to his family, the church, the choir, but his greatest allegiance was to his God. It was this abiding faith that sustained him to the end.
He leaves to cherish his memory: two sisters, Ms. Estelle Cook o f North Augusta, SC and Mrs. Louise Johnson Elams o f Brooklyn, NY; three brothers, Jessie (Mary) Johnson, Montmorenci, SC, Rev. William (Teddie) Johnson, and Dea. Jerry (Lillie Belle) Johnson of Philadelphia, PA; two devoted friends, Annie B. Dais and Doris Goley of North Augusta, SC; nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and sorrowing friends.
