Jfflrs. Jlattte Williams Jfyapkmti, was bom in st.
Matthews, South Carolina on February 18, 1902. She entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 24, 1997. She was the daughter of the late John and Mary Jones Williams.
She w as joined in holy w edlock to the late G rover L. H opkins and to this union six children w ere born. Three preceded her in death.
At an early age, she became a m em ber of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, St. M atthews, South Carolina and attended services faithfully until her health failed. She served as a member of the Senior Choir.
She attended the public schools of Calhoun County. She was a dedicated wife, a loving mother and a homemaker.
To cherish her memories: she leaves two daughters, Mrs. M attie H. Bacote of Hartsville, SC and Mrs. Vertelle H. Shaw of New Castle, D elaw are; one son, Dr. Joseph L. Hopkins of Orangeburg, SC; one brother, Mr. W hitfield W illiams of Jersey City, New Jersey; two daughters-in-law, Mrs. Sallie K. Hopkins of St. M atthews, SC and Mrs. Alice G. Hopkins of Orangeburg, SC; a devoted son-in-law, Mr. A lbert Bacote of Hartsville, SC; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
