06ituary
O il December 2 4 , 2 0 0 1 , God called a very special person home. He was kind-hearted, God-fearing, humble, caring and a gentle person.
The spirit of John Thomas Harris was claimed by the Almighty God to a place beyond to receive his rewards. While we the family will certainly miss him, we shall he sustained as Job. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away...Blessed be the name of the Lord.
Mr. John Thomas Harris son of the late Ms. Susie Mae Harris was born on September 9, 1935. He was guided through life's journey by a devoted aunt Emily and Frank Steed whom he loved dearly until they took flight.
At a very early age, he was converted, baptized and joined Gardner Grove Baptist Church where he worked faithfully as Chief of the Usher Board and a faithful member for many years.
He was married to Betty Jean Harris. To this union three children were born.
He leaves to cherish his memory two sons: Mr. Dennis Steed and Mr. Merrion Steed, Augusta, Ga; one daughter, Mrs. Wanda Steed of California; a brother, Mr. Vernon Harris, Augusta, Ga.; a niece, Mrs. Angela Wilson of North Carolina; five grandchildren, cousins, other relatives and devoted friends.

Memorial Poem
You bade no one a last farewell You said Goodbye to none
The Heavenly Gates just opened wide And the Master softly said, "Come."
He knew you were tired And the hills were hard to climb, So he gently closed your weary eyes And whispered, "Peace Be Thine." The weary hours, the days of pain, The sleepless nights are passed, The ever-patient worn-out frame,
Has found Sweet rest at last.
