Mr. Sandy Kermit Dean, age 72, son of the late George and Mable Springs Dean, was born April 26, 1910, in Greenwood County, South Carolina. He entered into eternal rest February 19, 1983, at the Edgefield County Hospital, Edgefield, South Carolina.
He received his education from Mt. Calvary and Johnston Elementary Schools, Voorhees High School and Junior College; earned both his Bachelor of Science degree and his Master of Science degree in Education from South Carolina State College.
S. K. Dean served as principal of the following South Carolina Schools over a thirty-five year period: Bouknight School, Trenton, South Carolina; Lamar Jr. High School, Lamar, South Carolina; Edgefield Academy and W. E. Parker High School, both in Edgefield, South Carolina; and Johnston Primary, Johnston, South Carolina. He also served for two years (1970-1972) as Director of the South Carolina/North Carolina Training Coordination Center for Teachers at South Carolina State College, Orangeburg, South Carolina. He retired after having served for one year (1972-1973) as Director of the Remedial Programs for High School Students in Science and Math, Voorhees College, Denmark, South Carolina.
At a very early age he was converted and joined the Mount Calvary Baptist Church. He was a loyal and faithful member until his death. For three years, he served as church clerk for the Mount Calvary Church. He also served as Assistant Clerk for the Simmon Ridge Samaritan Association.
S. K. Dean was president of the Dean Family Club; he was a member of the South Carolina Retired Educators Association, National Retired Teachers Association, South Carolina Education Association, and National Education Association. S. K. was also a member of the Upper Savannah Regional Planning and Development Council.
As former principal and director of the public schools and colleges of South Carolina, S. K. Dean touched the lives of many youth and adults, thereby causing them to develop into better men and women. Thus ends the life of

a loving father, grandfather, brother and most of all a devoted and faithful husband.
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
Left to cherish his precious memories are his beloved wife of forty-four years, Priscilla Mary Eagles Dean; two daughters, Barbara E. Dean, Washington, D.C., and Mable Syneta Dean, Spartanburg, S.C.; one son, Sandy K. Dean, Jr., Washington, D. C.; two grandchildren, Margo A. Dean and Christel K. Dean, Cincinnati, Ohio; one brother, Havard Dean, Johnston, S. C.; one sister-in-law, Mary Glenn Dean; four sisters, Thomasina Dean Wilds, Allendale, S.C., Carrie Dean Hurley, Washington, D.C., Blossom Dean Bryant, Temple Hills, Maryland, and Mattie Dean, Brooklyn, N. Y.; three brothers-in-law, Leroy Wilds, Reverend Matthew Hurley, and William Bryant; two aunts, Ella Springs, Clinton, Maryland, and Blossom Springs, Chapel Hill, North Carolina; nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.

A million times we have needed you. A million times we have cried. If love alone could have spared you. You would have never died. If all the world was ours to give. We would give it, yes; and more, To see you coming up our steps, And walking through our door.

To hear your voice, to see your smile, To sit and talk with you a while, To be with you the same old way. Would be our fondest today. A heart of gold stopped beating, Two smiling eyes at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best. The Family

In times like these we need a Savior and friends. The family acknowledges with sincere appreciation your kind expression of sympathy shown during our bereavement and your presence during this memorial service.
