There comes a time when we must say farewell but faith, hope, love, and trust can never die. This new life which God has promised us began for cMrs. Qeneoa Courtney on Saturday, November 7, 1998, at the University Hospital. She was born on January 23,1939, to the Daisy Clegg and the late Edward Clegg.
She received Christ at an early age and joined the Gardner Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Parks. She later joined the First New Hope Baptist Church to be with her husband, under the leadership of Reverend Jerry Freeman.
She was a member of Club #1. Geneva attended school in Richmond County.
"Genny", as she was affectionately called, was always willing to give herself and go that extra mile to help someone else. She will be greatly missed.
Geneva was united in holy matrimony to John Benjamin Courtney. To this union four sons and one daughter was born.
Precious memories will forever be in the hearts and minds of her surviving loved ones: a loving and devoted husband, Mr. John Benjamin Courtney; one daughter, Rosalyn C. McBride; four sons, Fred Courtney, Melvin Courtney, James Courtney and Ronald Courtney; mother, Daisy Clegg, all of Augusta, Georgia; three brothers, Edward Clegg, Robert Clegg and Marvin Clegg, of Augusta, Georgia; mother-in-law, Mable Courtney; son-in-law, Johnny McBride; daughter-in-law, Renee Courtney; one aunt, two great aunts, one great uncle; fourteen grandchildren; a devoted friend, Geraldine Jackson; and a host of other relatives and faithful friends.
You've always had a special way o f doing things that pleased, little things that cheer the heart and leave fond memories. You've always helped to brighten our lives, and what's more you still do. No wonder you will be close in our thoughts, each time we think o f you.

We thank God for you. He could have chosen anyone, but in His wisdom and grace, He chose you out of all the millions o f mothers. He chose a gem like you. It was God's will we are sure o f that.

M uch more than gold or silver is what you meant to us. Our memories o f you will live on in us for an eternity.

Orderly and warm is what you were; a simple orchest o f complete love to us, as well as all those you knew.

Thankfulness for what you gave us-in raising us up from birth. Total gratitude for having a mom like you.

VLonesty is what and how you lived and what we'll strive to be.. Humble and full o f humanistic qualities is what we learnedfrom you.

Earthly caring and loving embracing life as you met it - is what you possessed. We're willing to strive to do our best.

Resisting ugliness no matter what theform. Here we'll have to really try to conform.

Goodbyefor now our wonderful Mother, Your Children
