Earnest H . C o lem a n , eighty years old, was born on December 3,1921, in Aiken County, South Carolina. He is the son of the late Arthur and Myra Green Coleman.
He attended the local schools in the Aiken County area, and joined the Ridge Hill Baptist Church at an early age. Later in life, he united in Holy matrimony to Thelma V. Abies. This union was blessed with two children.
Earnest was a community helper and a man blessed with many skills. He was an active member in the following organizations: Masonry Instructors Association, Superintendent in the Sunday School Department, Chairman of the Deacon Board, Senior Choir leader, Chairman of the Ridge Spring Harvest Festival, Wide Awake Lodge #252, Order of the Eastern Star #106, and a retired teacher from the Aiken County School System.
On Saturday, April 6,2002, Earnest was called into an eternal sleep. He is loved and will be missed by the following: His wife, Thelma V. Coleman of Ridge Spring, SC; one son and daughter-in-law, Rick (Barbara) Coleman of Columbia, SC;one daughter and son-in-law, Vikki (Michael) Fields of Atlanta, GA;one brother, Herbert Coleman of Aiken, SC; three grandchildren, Ashley, Mia and Wesley; four sisters-in-law, Ethel Coleman, Sarah Glenn, Florence Smith and Bessie Coleman; one brother-in-law, James Abies; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
