** O B I T U A R Y **
Dea. Leroy (Bud) Carter was born Nov. 21, 1913 to the late Joseph Carter and Sis. Malinda Carter, he died July 20,1 9 7 7 at 1:30 a.m.
He was converted and was baptized by the late Rev. S. L. Sapp at the Gardner Grove Baptist Church where he served faith fully until his health failed but his desires were of his church and the work to be done.
He served dutifully as a deacon, treasurer of the church Sunday School Scholar and dearly loved to hear the choir sing. He was poor in health for a number of years but kept the faith of Job in God to wait until his change would come. He bore his ill ness patiently; and would often try to make the members of his family feel that he was not suffering. Dea. Carter told God all about the pains and sufferings.
He was united in holy wedlock to Channie Sanders and to this union ten children were born.
He is survived by a dedicated and devoted wife, Mrs. Channie S. Carter, three sons, Dethead Carter, Leroy Carter Jr., Horace Carter, all of Boston, Mass., six daughters, Geneva Taylor, Mamie Thomas,San Francisco, Calif., Alice Grant, Atlanta, Ga., Nora Grant, Austin, Texas, Julia Walker, Fort Hood, Texas and Linda C. James of Augusta, Ga., his loving mother, Mrs! Malinda Carter, three sisters, Bessie Williams, Lessie Clark and Daisy Barnwell, Augusta, Ga., three brothers, Lewis Carter Sr., Augusta, Joseph Carter, Boston, Mass, and Phinizy Carter, Hartford, Conn., seven teen grandchildren, four brothers-in-law, four sisters-in-law, six sons-in-law, two daughters-in-law, a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
