SAFELY HOME
I am home in Heaven, dear ones: Oh, so happy and so bright! There is perfect joy and beauty In this everlasting light. All the pain and grief is over, Every restless tossing passed: I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in Heaven at last.
Columbus Brown was born in Emanuel County Georgia, on November 26, 1914 and departed September 4, 2001.
Columbus graduated high school, attended Savannah State College, and completed trade school in Georgia.
He served in the United States Army during World War II as a Military Police Officer in the 92nd Infantry.
He and his late wife, Louellen and their children migrated to Brooklyn, New York in the late 1950s. He was employed as an electrician at the Brooklyn Navy Yard for a number of years and afterwards worked as an independent electrical contractor until he retired.
All that knew "Lum", as he was affectionately called, knew of his fondness for Cadillacs and CB radios. He had a vibrant personality that none of us will soon forget. He was known to be a great storyteller and the life of the party, and leaves with us many fond memories.
He leaves to mourn his passing: his children, grand children, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family and friends who will miss him and remember his passion to live life to the fullest.
Then you must not grieve so sorely, For I love you dearly still:
Try to look beyond earths shadows, Pray to trust our Fathers Will.
There is work still waiting for you, So you must not idly stand:
Do it now, while life remainethYou shall rest in Jesus land.
When that work is all completed, He will gently call you Home: Oh, the rapture of that meeting, Oh, the joy to see you come!

BECAUSE You LOVED ME You were my strength when I was weak, You were my voice when I couldnt speak, You were my eyes when I couldnt see,
You saw the best there was in me. Lifted me up when I couldnt reach; You gave me faith coz you believed.
Im everything I am Because you loved me. I lost my faith, you gave it back to me. You said no star was out of reach. You stood by me and I stood tall, I had your love I had it all. Im grateful for each day you gave me; Maybe I dont know that much But I know this much is true I was blessed because I was loved by you.
Acknowledgement The family wishes to express their deep appreciation and sincere thanks for all acts of kindness shown to them in their time of sorrow.
