DEACON XAVIER WINFRED BROOKS was born on October 18,1959 in Augusta, Georgia to the late Henry Charles Brooks, Sr. and Mary Dickerson Brooks. He departed this life on Monday, December 5,2016.
Winfred was converted and baptized in 1966 at the age of seven years old, under the pastorate of the late Reverend Essie Mae McIntyre.
He attended the public schools of Richmond County and was a 1978 graduate of T.W. Josey Comprehensive High School.
He was a dedicated church member who loved his pastor and church family. He served as an Usher for fifty plus years beginning with the Junior Usher Board when he was just a young child. He was ordained as a Deacon in November 1980. He also served on the Essie Mae McIntyre Male Chorus. He was committed, loyal, and faithful in service to the Lord. Everything he did was for the Lord, he would always give it his best.
He retired from the Richmond County Board of Education after twenty years of service. He was employed with Williams Funeral Home for several years. Prior to his death, he was a School Crossing Guard with the Richmond County Sheriff Department.
Other organizations he served with were: the GMBC Tenth District Ushers, Usher Union of Georgia, Abraham Masonic Lodge #667, R.A. Dent Elk Lodge #1725, and the General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia, Inc., Devotional Team.
He leaves to cherish his memory: four brothers, Reverend Henry Charles Brooks, Jr., James E. Brooks, Kevin L. Brooks and Jerome I. Brooks; two sisters, Valeria Brown and Gwendolyn Stallings, all of Augusta, GA; two nephews, Roderick Brown, Atlanta, GA and Ronzo (Kay) Brown, Orlando, FL; two nieces, Farrah Stallings and Valeria Stallings, Augusta, GA; two great nephews, Isaiah Stallings and Elijah Stallings, Augusta, GA; five great nieces, Aerial Brown, Fort Worth, TX, Imari Brown, Orlando, FL, Alyssa Moore, Raven Reeves and Alexis Moore, Augusta, GA; one aunt, Willie Maude Dickerson, Augusta, GA; two dear friends, whom he called "mama and papa", Mr. Isaac & Mrs. Dorothy Jackson; cousins, other relatives and friends.
