IN REMEMBRANCE Or

Cosena L. Bain, a native of Augusta, Georgia, transcended to Heaven on December 21, 2009, in Washington, DC, where for the last several years, she resided with her daughter, and only child, Raymone K. Bain.
A longtime educator, Mrs. Bain taught English and Literature at the Haines Normal Institute, Lucy C. Laney High School, and The Academy of Richmond County.

Washington, DC, she attended the Union Temple Baptist Church, pastored by Rev. Willie Wilson, but continued to advocate her dedication to Second Providence Baptist Church, and in particular, Dr. Albert M. James, whom she loved, and was in constant contact.
Mrs. Bain, a graduate of Paine College in Augusta, GA, also attended the Boston Conservatory of Music.

She loved her students, and oftentimes would mentor and tutor them long after they left her classroom, a testament to the fact that many she taught, continued to write and communicate with her.
Mrs. Bain was a patron of the Arts, and throughout her entire life loved music, theater, and playing the piano. For many years she rendered music, as pianist, for numerous social and church events, in and around the Augusta Metropolitan Area. While a teacher at Lucy C. Laney High, she was advisor and acting coach to the Drama Club, which won several Statewide competitions.
She was a lifelong and dedicated member of the Second Providence Baptist Church, in North Augusta, South Carolina, and also an honorary member of her late father's church, Old Storm Branch Baptist Church, in Clearwater, South Carolina. For many years, she served as pianist for both church choirs, and at Old Storm Branch, was affiliated for many years with it's Summer Enrichment Program. She was an active member of the Second Providence Parent Body Missionary Society. While in

She was a lifetime member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and was one of the initial, and very active members of the Augusta-Aiken Chapter of the Sorority. She was also a member of the Paine College Alumni Association, National Association of University Women, Georgia Retired Teacher's Association, and the Frugulite Club (a social club comprised of her longtime friends and colleagues).
Mrs. Bain was a founding member and advisor to the Augusta Adult Society, founded by Mrs. Rosa T. Beard, which sponsors the Debutante Cotillion in the African-American community in Augusta, GA.
She will be remembered for her gentle and unselfish spirit, warm smile, strong spiritual fiber, and willingness to always assist others in need. But, many concur with her friend, Dr. Julianne Malveaux, President of Bennett College, when upon hearing of her death, said, "Whenever I was in Mrs. Bain's presence, or thought of her, I would smile, because she was the sweetest little lady, with meticulous taste, who exuded such femininity and dignity."

Her trademark... known to all until her death, was her red lipstick, red manicured nails, her necklace and her purse...she was never without them.
However, Mrs. Bain will be most remembered, throughout the United States, as a loving and dedicated mother to her only child, Raymone K. Bain. In her later years, Mrs. Bain traveled throughout the country, and around the world with her daughter, longtime Spokesperson and General Manager of the late "King of Pop," and Entertainment icon, Michael Jackson, and to events relating to her daughter's other clients including, Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, Boyz II Men, Janet Jackson, Steve Harvey, and Tennis great, Serena Williams.
Says Ms. Bain, "M y mother made an indelible imprint on all she met, and particularly in my life. She was my best friend, and I will truly miss her. I will strive to be the kind of spiritual and courageous woman she was."
Also a fixture in Mrs. Bain's life, her beloved miniature Yorkshire Terrier, Mikey.

a mother...and, she was such a wonderful one! She loved me unconditionally, and was my best friend and "running buddy." I thank God for allowing me in, and predetermining me for her life.

She was a confident, courageous, spiritual, selfless woman, whose integrity was unequalled. She always exhibited such poise, class, and grace, throughout her entire lifetime. She made an indelible impression to all she met, and especially to me in my life.

She was a devoted wife, daughter, niece, family member, and friend, who gave of herself generously, without reservation.

She instilled in me the confidence to pursue any dream I had; and, it is because of her sacrifices and encouragement, that I continued to grow and achieve.

I will miss our rides in "GEORGE-TOWN," and our frequent outings together...especially

to McDonald's, Benihana's and other restaurants. But more importantly, I will miss her

wisdom, her smile, and her presence. She's been there for me my entire life...and I thank

^

God for this blessing.

My mother was an only child, and so am I, but we never felt alone, because of the love and support we received from our family and extended family.

Words cannot truly express my gratitude for the love, kindness and support my friends unselfishlv gave to my mother. You gave her love and joy. You included her...and you were always there for her. She was always a priority to you... and for this, I will be eternally grateful to all of you.

Let us hold onto her memory by walking the way she walked...with love, truth, kindness, dignity, integrity and courage...honoringand loving God, and maybe, we will live the good, spiritual life to celebrate our 90thBirthday.

From the bottom of my heart, I thank you. Please remember me in prayer as I will remember you.
