Obituary
Herbert Forgys Anderson was born to the late Frances Augusta and Henry Dorman Anderson in Falmouth, Jamacia, British West Indies on May 31, 1884.
Shortly after his arrival in New York City in 1909, he enrolled in the Downing Town, Pa. High School where he completed his high school training.
He earned the A.B. Degree, with a Major in English, from Lincoln University of Pa. Choosing the ministry as a field of service, he returned to Lincoln University and was subsequently awarded the Bachelors Degree in Sacred Theology.
Following his matriculation from Lincoln University, Rev. Anderson served as minister and teacher in North Carolina, Virginia, and Tennessee. In 1931, he came to Augusta to accept the pastorate of Christ Presbyterian Church. He retired following thirty-two years of service, not only to his own congregation, but to the Augusta Community.
During his active years Rev. Anderson was associated with the Boy Scouts of America, U.S.O. Board of Directors, The Augusta Evangelical Ministers Association, Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance, and the Presbytery of Georgia.
Age and infirmities necessitated the curtailment of many activi ties; however, his involvement in and commitment to the work of Christ United Presbyterian Church and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity never ceased.
Rev. Anderson departed this life April 22, 1968. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Burdell Sullivan Anderson and a host of sorrowing friends.

CROSSING THE BAR
Sunset and evening star, And one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning of the bar When I put out to sea.
But such a tide as moving seems asleep, Too full for sound and foam, When that which drew from out the boundless deep Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell, And after that the dark! \ And may there be no sadness of farewell When I embark;
For, though from out our bourne of time and peace The flood may bear me far, I hope to see my Pilot face to face When I have crossed the bar.
