Dear Graduating Class of2004,
Ourtime at Spelman has come to an end, and ourfuture awaits us. Asweeach embark upon ourpromisingjourneys beyond Spelmans gates, we must never forget lessons of our Spelman experience. We have all gained a wealth of knowledge, both inside and outside oftheclassroom, sincewestood inlineonAugust19,2000, infront ofSpelmans gates anxiously awaiting the beginning ofourjourney. Now it is time for us to use this knowledge to further our goals. Although we have finished the work required to earn our degrees from Spelman, we are by no means finished with the work we must
do in orderto become the women we wish to be. The Class of2004 is composed of a group ofwomen with extremely diverse attitudes, opinions, andvalues. RegardlessofthepathswetooktoSpelman,
or
the paths we will take from Spelman, we will forever be united by thisexperience. OurSpelman experience has helped usgainwisdom, and asourclass mottostates, With Wisdom, Success is Inevitable. Remembertoalwaysassumeanactiveinsteadofapassiverole in makingyourdreamsbecomeyourrealities. Thankyouforthe privilege of serving as your Senior Class President. I wish you all abundant blessingsand muchsuccess in allofyourendeavors.

We entered Spelmans gates different, a milieu of colors as a result of our diverse backgrounds and experiences. The end product of our toils and triumphs
over
the past 4 years shall be women of still diverse colors, united by our blue
hues. Now at the midpoint of our Spelman experience, we realize that college is about more than grades, professors, and classrooms; its about the people we meet, the lessons we learn,
and the situations we encounter. Each experience and person that we meet impacts our perception of ourselves and of the world around us, and adds
dimensions to our colors. As Spelman women, we celebrate our different shades, our diversity, and revel in the freedom to grow and express ourselves in such
a kaleidoscopic environment. No longer dwelling at the threshold, we now stand poised to enter unabashed into the coveted fellowship of 20-something women to claim our spaces in society and brave the experiences of these final 2 years. We dont realize, our friends dont tell us, and our families cant put their fingers on it, but somewhere between the initiation ceremony, first convocation, and Sophomore Assembly, we evolved. Weve grown since those days in Sisters Chapel and will continue our growth until we sit at that final convocation. But until that moment, we can still enjoy the independence of semi-adulthood, while remaining somewhat financially dependent upon our families, cherishing the time with our friends, and continuing to adapt to our different shades, before unlocking our true blue selves.

Blueprint of a Perfect Man:
The Elements of a Perfect Man, Mr. Sophomore and His Court
King (Mr. Sophomore): Martye Justice

2nd Attendant: Philip Hardway
Although we look for different men for different reasons, we all want our men to possess certain qualities or elements. We want men who are educated, talented, and destined to make change; we all want the perfect man. The class of 06 held a pageant in order to select Mr. Sophomore and his court. The Elements of a Perfect
Man: Perfection Personified" allowed the candidates to showcase
their individual talents and participate in a question & answer segment. In the end, three men were selected to serve as a representation of the blueprint, and as the ideal image of the perfect man.

Sophomore Weekend was full of fun events. Thursday night kicked it off with He Say, She Say Part 2...the rematch. It was the Battle of The Sexes; follow-up to last years big event. Spelman and Morehouse students filled Cosby Auditorium on their respective sides highly anticipating who would be the winner this year. In the end, the men came out victorious. Friday was the Black Party.. .a party that will
never
be forgotten. As the lines formed from Club 580s front door to the street, everybody was ready to get their party on. The Class of 2006 threw their first ever off-campus party and with 1,500 in attendance, it proved to be a definite success. The West End Clean-Up took place Saturday morning as ladies armed with glovesand trash bags united in an effort to clean up the community. Saturday evenings art gallery, The Eclectic Cafe, was a unique event. Artists came out and showcased their various talents. The classy yet mellow setting was set up in Lower Manley with food and drinks for everyone. Sundays Brother and Sister Reunion was a catered
soul food luncheon. This mini reunion served as a time of reflection with our Morehouse brothers. As Rev. Rhodes came out and shared her inspirational words, all recognized and were grateful for the bond that continues to hold us together.

Spelman women come from all economic, social, and cultural backgrounds.Although we are all Spelman women, all of us are different shades of blue. It is only accurate that the class of 2007 be deemed as baby blue. The class of 2007 as a whole shares common experiences as the new ladies on Spelman's campus. We all experienced the benefits and difficulties of
orientation
week, the first dayjitters, and college life anxiety. We
are as our
class motto
states, Divas of
Destiny." We
are all stars whether it is throughmusical ability, theatrical ability, athletic
ability, or academic
ability. We
are the divas thatwill
change the future. Our voices will
be heard loud and clear. Although, most of us are uncertain as to what our future holds, we will walk into our future boldly and confidently. Our freshman year is just the beginning of our road to success. Although we are the babies of Spelman, we are grateful that there is always a big sister to look out for us and make sure we stay on track.

Havent we all walked down the halls of our dorms shaking our heads, wonderingwhere the MTV cameras are? Sometimes, this stuff doesnt seem real. Think about it:
more
than a hundred girls from around the country are thrown together and made to share a space. Nothing is more fun, funny, and frustrating.
Dormitory life is truly an experience. By learning how to share living spaces with our fellow Spelman sisters, we learn how to depend on our Spelman sisters.
Of course, some of us could have chosen to live at home or rented an apartment. But, we definitely would have missed out on a lot of special moments. We have made friends that we will have forever. We have spent many nights sitting next door, across the
s' hall or a few doors down sharing life's joys and pains.
We may make the choice to live off-campus someday. But for now, we are makingmemories that we will be able to look back on and laugh, cry, and smile about. That is
priceless.

All we dois think about Blue
That's right, all we reallydo is think about
blue Spelman blue. This blue includes deep shades of
academics, medium tones of
career
preparation, and vibrant splashes of extracurricular activities. At any given time of the day, it is virtuallyguaranteed that any Spelmanstudent you ask is actually thinking about one of these things. Blended together, these three parts create a portrait of a fulfilling Spelman experience, unique and special to every woman who has
entered these gates. As she
maps the course of her life, Spelman presents various activitiesfor her along the
way. Some possibilitiesincluded AUC Life,Homecoming 2003, Commuter Life, Vacations, etc. In other words, StudentLife isessentialtothe
development of the whole Spelman woman. Student Life prepares the Spelman student to enter the larger world, equipped to handle all of life's joys and obstacles.

A long time ago, Marvin Gaye asked, Whats Goin On? Today, that question still lingers, but more often than not, it is applied to the social calendars ofour lives and less
to the awareness ofsocial and economic ills plaguing the world. However, this question is answered repeatedly on Spelmans campus. Flyers for AUC Peace meetings, various marches, registrations, forums, and various social events are posted around campus to inform students of whats going on. With the numerous amount ofon andoffcampus
activities, the Spelman woman has the opportunity to not only be aware ofwhats happening in her community, but also has the opporuntity to shape her community. Based on her interests and talents, a Spelman woman is able to find various events that cater to her personal and professional needs. With the myriad ofactivities surrounding her, the Spelman woman never has to ask whats going on.

issues such as voting and living with AIDS. The IMAGES Campaign
