- This video recording captures two presentations by Dr. Asa G. Hilliard, III to two different audiences in Iowa City, Iowa, on May 12, 1988. In the first presentation, Hilliard discusses the infusion of multicultural points of view into curriculum. He points to work done in the Portland (Oregon) Public Schools as an example of how to accomplish this goal. In the second presentation, beginning at time mark 33:38, Dr. Hilliard addresses the topic of bias and how it affects school curriculum. He stresses that educators have a role to play in either endorsing or rejecting bias in society, and he also explores the role that media plays in reinforcing cultural biases.
