- Description:
- This mixed methods case study examined the perceived impact of a public charter high school college and career readiness program on alumni persistence in postsecondary institutions. Data collection methods included a student survey, school staff interviews and school outcomes data. The results were analyzed to determine whether the college and career readiness program was effective for charter school alumni and whether it provided the needed support for first year persistence in postsecondary education. The goal of the college and career readiness program is to assist enrolled charter school students and guarantee their graduation with the qualifications and preparedness for postsecondary success. The program offers tailored and comprehensive services to students and families during their educational journeys at the charter school. By fostering student preparedness, the program significantly improved student persistence in colleges. A successful college and career readiness program is a transformative investment in students and society. Its ripple effects—from individual empowerment to systemic advancements—highlight the importance of such initiatives in shaping a brighter, more equitable future.
