- This research was conducted to fill a necessary gap in research regarding the lack of African American collegiate women athletic administrators in Division One football. While the number of African American student athletes is high, the inverse could be said for African American female administrators. The purpose of this study was to identify barriers, and also create solutions so that administrations and institutions alike can increase the education to workforce pipeline in this sector. This will also allow aspiring African American females to join the industry fully aware of how to thrive in this sector. Data collection for this research included surveys and interviews between two data sets. Head football coaches and African American collegiate women athletic administrators were interviewed. This is a qualitative study that used the phenomenological design. Transcription coding, identification of emergent themes, and analysis of interviews transpired.
