- Description:
- The purpose of this mixed-method research study was to examine the impact of dynamic communication as deployed by school leaders upon stakeholder engagement at the high school level. This research was conducted in five different high schools in the southeastern United States. The schools in this study all use dynamic communication. Since 2010, the manner in which school leaders communicate has dramatically changed. This change created an opportunity for school leaders to evolve to better serve their stakeholders. This mixed-method study deployed both interviews and surveys to determine how school leaders were utilizing dynamic communication methods and the efficacy and impact of those communication tools used. Factors researched in this study included an analysis of the relationship between dynamic communication and stakeholders, steps necessary to better engage stakeholders, the impact of dynamic communication upon school climate, preferred methods of communication and their efficacy, and the role dynamic communication plays in effective communication and leadership. The research found that school leaders who deploy dynamic communication are effective in some regards in regularly communicating with their stakeholders. However, the research also found that there were areas where school leaders were not deploying dynamic communication effectively, particularly in the area of how school leaders account for the diversity of the communities they serve.
