- This thesis was based on the premise that female sexuality is often depicted negatively in literature. The Black Female Sexuality Theory explores how Black female characters engage their sexuality and whether they are allowed to without societal judgement. Derived from Feminism and Womanism, this literary theory addresses the culture specificities directed of Black women who wish to explore sexual freedom without judgement. The literary works used in this study display the Black female’s defiance of societal norms and unrestricted attitude toward sexuality.
