- Description:
- This evaluation examined the effectiveness of the Risk Reduction Workshop at Positive Impact, Inc in Atlanta, Georgia. The Positive Impact program consists of a Homeless Outreach Program, under which the workshop operates. This study evaluates the outreach risk reduction portion of the program, which falls under the psycho-educational model which the program bases its mission on. The AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome) Risk Reduction model was the conceptual framework for this study. The methodology for the evaluation included the Risk Reduction Survey Tool. The evaluation tool was used to review the risk reduction knowledge of 8 clients at the end of the 8-week session. Risk reduction was assessed based on the information learned at the end of the intervention. Data was analyzed to present descriptive findings and the outcome measure, risk reduction knowledge. The evaluator found that HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) knowledge and STD (Sexually Transmitted Disease) knowledge were high at the end of the workshop. Conclusions and Implications for social work were also included.
