- The purpose of this study was to ascertain data in order to analyze and explain the relationship between the social work practitioner's level of education, training, experience, and knowledge of childhood sexual abuse and the therapeutic program chosen by the practitioner. The study analyzed the practitioner's level of education, training, experience, and knowledge of childhood sexual abuse in order to explain the therapeutic program they chose to counsel adult female survivors of childhood sexual abuse. Survey research was employed in a metropolitan area involving a randomly selected sample of 100 social work respondents compiled from lists of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), National Association of Black Social Workers (NABSW) Atlanta Chapter, and a list of local social workers. The independent variables of the study were the social work practitioner's level of education, training, experience, and knowledge of childhood sexual abuse. The dependent variable was the therapeutic or treatment program chosen by the social work practitioner to treat adult female survivors. The questionnaire measured the social work respondent's level of education, training, experience, and knowledge of childhood sexual abuse. The findings of the study indicated a statistically significant relationship between level of experience, level of knowledge of how to counsel adult female survivors, and level of training and the therapeutic program chosen by social workers. There was no statistically significant relationship between the social worker�s knowledge of childhood sexual abuse before they encountered the female survivor on their job and their level of education and the therapeutic program chosen by the social worker.
