- Description:
- In order to determine the behavioral responses of a select group of African American adolescents during the grief process, an investigative study was conducted. The study involved 50 African American male and female college freshman. The instruments were used to assess the level of depression, stress, and to determine if religious activity was a factor in coping. A demographic questionnaire was administered to analyze other related factors. One way multivariant analyses of variances and Pearson Correlation Coefficient were utilized to determine the significance of differences and similarities between variables. The results indicated that there were significant changes in the emotional state for this population. Moreover, there were significant correlations among variables. The results also highlighted the critical need for more research.
