- Description:
- This study examined how women who are domestically abused suffer from low self-esteem and depression after the relationship has ended. The study was based on the findings that women who were beaten by their partners and leave their abusive relationship suffered from low self-esteem and depression. A descriptive research design was used in this study. There were two self administered instruments utilized in this study testing for self-esteem and depression. The sample population consisted of twenty-five women who had left their partners and who were residing in a shelter at The Partnership Against Domestic Violence. The findings showed that there is a relationship between self-esteem and depression as the result of domestic violence. However, there may be other external factors regarding self-esteem and depression that were not examined in this study.
