- Description:
- Physical and verbal abuse among school age children towards themselves and their teachers have increased within the past ten years. Behaviorally aggressive childrens' view of themselves and their perception of peer-relations are crucial in their maturation of social skills in the school environment. This study examined behaviorally aggressive middle school age children ages eleven through thirteen by measuring their self-esteem and their magnitude of peer- relations. The overall objective was to determine whether a significant statistical relationship existed between behaviorally aggressive children's self-esteem and their perception of peer-relations. The objective was reached by (1) identifying children who were considered behaviorally aggressive on Achenbach's Child Behavior Checklist and (2) by completing Hudson's questionnaires of self-esteem and peer-relations.
