- Description:
- The purpose of this study was to describe the attitudes of African-American graduate students toward HIV/AIDS and condom use. Information was gathered about personal risk, moral issues, legal issues, judgement issues, anti-precautions, responsibility and contact/proximity. Self-administered questionnaires were distributed to 25 African-American graduate students residing in a graduate dormitory on a predominately African-American university in Atlanta, Georgia. Findings indicated that the majority of females had a low tolerance for condom use and moderate to high tolerance for HIV/AIDS issues. The findings also indicated that the majority of males had a high tolerance for condom use and a low tolerance for HIV/AIDS issues.
