- The objective of this descriptive study was to examine the following variables: (a) historical backgrounds, (b) alcohol use, (c) depression, (d) loneliness, and (e) concerns about death. To attain this objective, a reliable and valid self-administered forty-two (42) itemed questionnaire was given to nineteen (19) males and eleven (11) females, ranging in ages from fifty-nine (59) and eighty-five (85), residing in Atlanta Public Housing Highrise located in Atlanta, Georgia. The result of the study revealed that those elderly persons residing in an Atlanta Public Housing Highrise, experienced a significant degree of alcoholism, depression, loneliness, and concerns about death.
