- Description:
- This study was designed to investigate the perceptions, priorities, and concerns of superintendents regarding the infusion of global multicultural education in their school districts. All 185 superintendents, representing all the districts in the state constituted the sample size for the study. The Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient (Pearson r): level of significance for a nondirectional (two-tailed) test at the .01 and .001 levels of significance was used to test hypotheses and research questions posed; the primary findings indicated: 1. A significant relationship at the .001 level was found between superintendents' perceptions of global multicultural education and having multiculturalism within the curriculum. 2. A significant relationship was found at the .01 level between the superintendents' perceptions of global multicultural education and their multicultural awareness. 3. A significant relationship was found at the .001 level between superintendents' perceptions of global multicultural education and their perceptions of the adequacy of administrators' preparation for multicultural education. 4. A significant relationship was found at the .001 level between superintendents' perceptions of global multicultural education and their perceptions of the adequacy of resources for multicultural education. Analysis of variance, Scheffe's test of significance were used to test hypotheses and research questions posed. The primary findings indicated: 1. A significant difference was found in the perceptions of superintendents regarding cultural sharing in terms of academic qualifications. A significant difference was found in the perceptions of superintendents regarding cultural sharing in terms of administrative experience.
