- Description:
- The overall objective of this study was to determine some of the factors associated with women remaining in a battering relationship. To obtain this objective, the following factors were addressed by the researcher: (a) learned helplessness, (b) economic and physical security, (c) fear, (d) family upbringing, and (e) anticipated change of behavior. A correlational research design was used for this study. A self administered questionnaire was given to women in Wings Shelter and Outreach Program located in Southern California. The results showed that there was a relationship between the variables and women remaining in battering relationship. The three prominent factors were fear, family upbringing, and helplessness.
