- Description:
- This study of the Negro in Colonial Georgia begins as a continuation of Miss M. E. Anthony's thesis, "Unindexed Official Record Of The Negro In Georgia 1733-1766". A careful examination of the Records from 1735 to 1805 revealed, however, that practically all of the material was indexed. Volumes eleven and twelve, which record the value of Negro slaves to the development of large estates, by their owners were unindexed. One using the index would face no difficulty in finding information concerning the regulations of Negro slaves in Colonial Georgia. And from this index, one can get a very good idea as to what the statute was because its index is not arranged in outline form, but is recorded fully. If there was any difficulty is this study, it probably was due to the facts that some volumes were a repetition of others and the Records were not chronologically arranged.
