- This study sought to test the theories of discovery learning, motivation, and cognition, on the effectiveness of analytical and interactive assignments on oral performance, measured through grades and student reflections on activities in Elementary Spanish at Clark Atlanta University. It focused on improving student learning and oral proficiency in Spanish. Participants were students. Data collection included a pretest to measure state of preparedness, oral midterm and final exams, and an open-ended survey seeking student perspectives on effectiveness of the conduct and contents of the class. Student perceptions revealed that interactive online content and direct interaction with instructor worked best.
