- This video features a produced episode of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference's (SCLC) "The Contemporary Chapter" in which an overview/excerpts of the program of events at the 37th Annual SCLC Convention is presented. Events captured include a "Stop The Killing" march, the SCLC/W.O.M.E.N. Oratorical Contest winner, the SCLC Youth Summit, Shirley Caesar speaking, an interpretative dancers performance, SCLC President Joseph E. Lowery's presidential address, the SCLC drill team, and remarks from Dr. Joycelyn Elders (U.S. Surgeon General) and Deval Patrick (U.S. Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division).
