- Description:
- This audio recording consists of three speakers. The first speaker, Professor Jules Moreau, poses a question, Do religious statements have a meaning recognizable by people outside the religious community? He states that there are three classes of statements and that not all of their meanings can be determined. He declares that religious statements cannot be cognitive because they cannot be verified or falsified. The next two speakers, Bishop Joseph A. Johnson, a New Testament professor at ITC, and an unidentified speaker give both a theological and philosophical analysis and critique of Professor Moreaus lecture. The recording concludes with the three speakers answering various questions from the audience. Audio becomes distorted and cuts out around 1:03:56 and then reenters at 1:04:11.
