Safely Home
Children, I am home in Heaven, dear ones; Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty In this everlasting light.
All the pain and grief is over, Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever, Safely home in Heaven at last.
Did you wonder I so calmly Trod the valley of the shade? Oh! But Jesus' love illumined Every dark and fearful glade.
And He came Himself to meet me In that way so hard to tread;
And with Jesus' arm to lean on, Could I have one doubt or dread?
Then you must not grieve so sorely, For I love you dearly still;
Try to look beyond earth's shadow, Pray to trust our Father's Will.
There is work still waiting for you, So you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remaineth You shall rest in Jesus' land.
When that work is all completed, He will gently call you Home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting, Oh, the joy to see you come!

The Sacred Journey Of
MRS. MAMIE BURT REESE
"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." II Timothy 4:7
On January 2, 1905, Mamie Burt was born in Clemson, Pickens County, SC to the parentage of the late Mr. Jasper Burt and Mrs. Rosa Green Burt. She was the oldest girl of eight children, three sisters and four brothers. She received her educational foundation in the public school system in Clemson,
sc.
At an early age, Mrs. Reese accepted Christ and joined the Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Central, SC, where she served her LORD diligently as a Sunday School Teacher.
ln her early twenties, she met and carried on a courtship with Mr. Verner Reese. They were united in Holy Matrimony on December 27, 1927. To this union one daughter was born, Helen Elizabeth Reese.
After several years of marriage, Mr. Reese moved his family to Asheville, NC. Mrs. Reese connected with the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School and worked on other church auxiliaries.
Mrs. Reese was a fifty year life member of the Daughters of Jerusalem, Chapter #330 Order of the Eastern Star/Prince Hall Affiliate and a Valkyrie Farm Club chartering member (Asheville, NC).
Her chosen professions included department store seamstress, dairy woman and cook/housekeeper before retiring.
Mama Reese, as she was fondly called by her grandchild and greatgrandchildren moved to Macon with her husband, Verner in 1992. He passed the same year. She remained in Macon with her daughter and son-in-law.
Mrs. Reese loved life. She lived 102 long, happy years. When asked what she thought was the reason for her longevity, her reply was "it could be that I try not to worry or become stressed..., I stay active, get plenty offresh air, but it is really about serving the Lord." There was always a smile and kind words for those she met.
She was preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings, Katie, Annie, Mattie, George, Joe, Tom and Willie James. Eternal rest came for Mrs. Reese early Saturday morning, December 22, 2007, making her stay on earth 102 years (plus).
She leaves to cherish her memories: a daughter, Mrs. Helen Reese Epps, Macon, GA ; son-in-law, Dr. Alonza Leroy Epps, Sr., Macon; grandson, Mr. Alonza Leroy Epps, Jr., Macon; four great-grandchildren, Jonathan Lyles, Atlanta, GA, Shanishie Epps, Keondria Epps and Ny'Keria Epps, Macon; sister-in-law, Mrs. Olivia Burt, Central, SC; adopted daughters, Mrs. Mary F. George, Mrs. Sarah Rogers and Mrs. Alice P. Smith, Macon; a host ofnieces, nephews, other relati ves and friends .

I'm Free
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free. I'm following the path God laid for me. I took His hand when I heard him call;
I turned my back and left it all. Tasks left undone must stay that way; I found that place at the close of day.
If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared a laugh, a kiss, Ah yes, these things, I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full, I savored much; Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch.
If my time seems all to brief; on't lengthen it now with undue grie:J. Lift up your heart and share with me, God wanted me now, He set me free .
