JAMES CAREY PARTRIDGE, JR. was born in Atlanta Georgia on May 13, 1940, to James andJuliette (White) Partridge, Sr. First born of three sons, Jimmy was followed in birth by his two brothers, Julius Earl and Gregory Emmerson.
Jim's formal education was in Atlanta, Georgia where he _attended E. R. Carter Elementary School prior to his enrollment and graduation from Booker T. Washington High School. In 1962, he entered Morehouse College and was awarded a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology, History and Education. After which, he studied at Atlanta University and earned a Masters Degree in Library Science in 1965. In 1967, he completed the Special Education courses at Coppin State College and attended the Institutional Library Services Institute at the University of Wisconsin in 1968.
Jimmy moved to Baltimore to accept a position as Librarian at the Enoch Pratt Free Library. He later became staff specialist at the Maryland State Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped in Baltimore. In this role, he provided outstanding service to persons with visual and physical disabilities. For over two decades he served as a consultant to public libraries in developing special service programs, developed statewide programs in jails and detention centers, programs for the deaf community, and library literacy programs. He coordinated library volunteer programs statewide and in many other ways insured that all the citizens of Maryland had equal access to information and the doors which information opens.

Jim was a faithful member and usher of Douglas Memorial Community Church in Baltimore, Maryland. He was an active member of the Associates, Inc. and a strong supporter and participating member of the Baltimore Metropolitan Morehouse College Alumni Association, Inc. He served as one of the three presidents of the Baltimore Chapter of the Phillip White Family Reunion group. He was instrumental in organizing and implementing some of the family's best reunions.
Living his life to the fullest, Jim was articulate, professional, spirited, fun loving, and devoted to his family and friends. A great communicator, he loved books, poetry and music and utilized his talent to provide music punctuated with inspirational messages for loved ones. He strongly believed that "Reading is for Everyone." His career in public service showed that he consistently acted upon that belief.

We make no demands upon Thy spirit, we ask nothing; we are in Thy presence as we are. 0 Love of God, Love of God, do with us in this waiting moment what Thou wouldst do with us. We trust Thee, our God, as best we can and beyond that we yield to Thy grace. Amen.

SAFELY HOME
I am home in Heaven, dear ones; Oh, so happy and so bright! There is perfect joy and beauty In this everlasting light. All the pain and grief is over, Every restless tossing passed; I am now at peace forever, Safely home in Heaven at last! Did you wonder I so calmly Trod the valley of the shade? Oh! but jesus' love illumined Every dark and fearful glade. And He came Himself to meet me In that way so hard to tread;
And with jesus' arm to lean on, Could I have one doubt or dread? Then you must not grieve so sorely, For I love you dearly still: Try to look beyond earth's shadows, Pray to trust our Father's Will. There is work still waiting for you, So you must not idly stand; Do it now, while life remainethYou shall rest in jesus' land. When that work is all completed, He will gently call you Home; Oh, the rapture of that meeting, Oh, the joy to see you come!
We, the family, thank God for all of you who have been so kind and generous during our bereavement. We gratefully acknowledge the many kind expressions ofsympathy and love. We pray for all of you, love, peace and joy.
