JOHNNY CLIFFORD MATHIS, the son of the late Mr. Lewis Mathis and the late Mrs. Angiline Lockhart Mathis was born January 19, 1919 in Talbot County, Georgia. He grew up in Talbot and Taylor Counties and attended the public schools. Mr. Mathis spent most of his life as a carpenter and truck driver. He joined in Holy Matrimony with Miss Lelia Bell Green and they lived a happy married life. Mr. Mathis was a very industrious individual and aided many individuals in employment and transportation of various kinds. He was one who was willing to lend a helping hand to ma7Jkind and was admired by many. His demise came on Friday, November 11, 1988 at the Peach Co. Hospital after a period of illness. Survivors are: a devoted wife Mrs. Lelia Bell Mathis of Reynolds, Ga. 1 daughter, Mrs. Delois Bell Cooper of Winter Park, Fla. 7 sons ; Mr. John L. Mathis of Reynolds, Mr. Joe Lewis Mathis of Jacksonville, Fla., Mr. Johnny Paul Mathis and Mr. Pejay Clifford Mathis both of Atlanta, Ga., Mr. Ronald Mathis , Mr . Herbert Mathis and Mr. Daniel Jerome Mathis all of Sarasota, Fla. 1 daughter-in-law ; Mrs. Myrtice Mathis of Reynolds. 1 son-in-law ; Mr. AI Cooper of Germany. 8 granddaughters, 5 grandsons, 2 great grandchildren. 3 sisters ; Mrs. Francis Thomas of Winter Park, Fla., Mrs. Annie Bell Benson and Mrs. Mary Ann Mathis of Brooklyn, N. Y. 2 brothers Mr. Lewis Mathis of Atlanta and Mr. Lonnie Gray of Detroit, Mich. A host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
