Mrs. Elizabeth Scott Hughes was born January 11, 1935, to the

~ ~ parentage of Mr. James Scott and Mrs. Florence Wimbush Scott

... ~ in Macon, Bibb County, Georgia.

.

~ "Baba ", as she was affectionately known, attended L. H Williams

Elementary School and graduatedfrom Ballard-Hudson High

School, Class of "1954" .

She was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Willie James Hughes, Sr. and to this union one son was born.

She was reared and baptized in Stinsonville A.ME. Church. Mrs. Hughes worshipped and served in numerous capacities including the Sunday School Department, Women's Missionary Society, Senior Usher Board, Trustee Board, and was a devoted fundraiser for the church. In 1994, she joined Gray Chapel A. ME. Church and continued her service to African Methodism. She especially enjoyed attending the Annual Conferences, Leadership Conferences, and Family Summits throughout the Sixth District. She often talked about the people she met and all the information she
learned.

Her love for Christ and humanity was the driving force ofher ministry to the elderly and sick. She spent many of her days visiting the hospitals and nursing homes, and was often asked to assist families with their loved ones.

She was afounding member ofthe Lakeside Hills Neighborhood Association, Family Circle Relayfor Life Team, and a volunteer with Girl Scout Troop #836.

Mrs. Hughes entered into the presence of the LORD, Monday, October 27, 2008, making her stay on earth seventy three years.

"Baba" will forever be loved and remembered by her family: husband, Mr. Willie James Hughes, Sr., Macon, GA; son, Mr. Willie James "Billy Duke" Hughes, Jr., Macon; two grandsons, Brandon Hughes, McDonough, GA and Jervonta Troutman, Macon, four sisters, Mrs. Florence (Charlie) Bundrige, Mrs. Carolyn Warner, Mrs. Jacqueline Woolfolk, and Mrs. Alice Gary, Macon; brothers-in-law, Mr. George Scott, Sr. and Mr. Robert Densley, Macon; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Elizabeth ' .(William) Weston, Washington, D.C.; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, who will also remember her special touch in their lives.
