Those we love must someday pass beyond our present sight... must leave us and the world we know without their radiant light.
But we know that like a candle, their lovely light will shine to brighten up another place more perfect. ..more divine.
And in the realm of Heaven, where they shine so wann and bright, our loved ones live forevermore in God's eternal light.

Mrs. Laura Bell Kemp Gibson of Cedartown, Georgia departed this life on August 25, 1999 after an extended illness. She was born in Cedartown,Georgia on February 14, 1913. She was the fifth child of the late Alfred and Mary Ammons Kemp. She married the late Ralph Ellison Gibson, Sr. in 1935. To this union eight children were born.
Mrs. Gibson was a dedicated Christian woman who joined the church at an early age and was baptized at the Friendship Baptist Church. She was an active member of the missionary society and the hospitality committee.
In the community, she was an active member of the Parent Teacher Association and the Band Booster Club. She was also a founding member of the Cedartown Ladies Social Club.
Mrs. Gibson had a beautiful smile and a friendly disposition. She never met a stranger and was helpful to those in need. Her favorite past time was cooking. She set a beautiful table and a delicious meal was always available for friends and family. There was nothing more special than a Sunday dinner at "Big Mama's" house. She also had a special talent for growing houseplants, especially African Violets.
She adored her grandchildren and treated each very special. If you ask each one will tell you that they were her favorite, and each one was. Of course you would know that if you ever had the opportunity to visit her former home and saw all the pictures on the walls, shelves, bookcases, mantels and dressers.
She is survived by her seven children: Ralph Gibson, Jr. (Maccie), James Gibson (Dianne) and Lavonne Johnson (Nathaniel), Cedartown, GA, Bernice Johnson and Barbara Pierce, Chattanooga, TN, Susan Carter (John), Atlanta, GA, and Joseph Gibson (Olivia), Montgomery, AL; two brothers: Addis Kemp, Cedartown, GA and Theron Kemp, Columbia, SC; two sisters-in-law: Mrs. Clifford Pollard, Farmington, MI, and Irene Finley, Toledo, OH; one aunt: Savannah Sewell, Cedartown, GA; twenty-one grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a host of other devoted relatives and friends.
