I'm Free
I'm free, praise the Lord, Hallelujah, I'm free. No longer bound,
No more chains holding me.
My soul is resting,
It's just another blessing, Praise the Lord,
Hallelujah, I'm free.
A Life To Be Remembered
] uanita Paul Floyd
Oft during the times of grief we find ourselves in thought of our loss; whereas,
what one has gained becomes shadowed and ignored. Always be reminded that Heaven gained another citizen, and skies another bright star.
Juanita Harriet Paul Floyd was born in Macon, Georgia to the parentage of the late Nebraska and Amanda Lucas Paul. She received her elementary education and much of her secondary training from the Bibb County School System. She moved to Elberton, Georgia during her senior year in high school following the
death of her mother to live with the late Presiding Elder and Mrs. J. L. Key, (her
oldest sister). She graduated from Blackwell Memorial High School. At an early age she confessed Christ as Lord of her life and united with the
King's Chapel Baptist Church, Jones County. As an adult she united with Saint
Luke Baptist Church, and in later years she united with Harmony Baptist Church. Juanita's greatest enjoyment was music. She was recognized early during her
teen years as a talented pianist featured in concerts and programs throughout the community. Upon completion of high school, she martriculated at the Fort Valley State College (now University) with a concentration in music. While at Fort Valley, she was recognized by the Music Department as a gifted pianist receiving numerous awards and recognitions. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in music education. Further studies were completed at the University of Georgia.
Juanita began her professional teaching career in Elberton, GA. In 1958, she
returned to Macon and taught choral and general music in Bibb County. She retired from the Bibb system with thirty years of dedicated service. After retirement, she graciously served as pianist\organist for the high school graduations. She was a dedicated teacher who was an inspiration to many students in the school system.
She was affiliated with Bibb Retired Educators (BREA), Georgia Retired Educators (GREA), Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA), Square Chapter #61, O.E.S., Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, and the Belvedere Manor/Weaver Heights Neighborhood Association.
A talented musician, she shared her musical gift in several churches throughout the Macon community.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Willie N. "Peavy" Paul,
Sr., Louise P. Culler, Sadie P. Lindsey, Miriam P. Key; and her son, Freddy Floyd,
Jr.
Her life will always be remembered and love will accompany memories cher-
