OBITUARY
Mr. Willis Melton Fitzhugh, Sr. was born in Newport News, Va. on December 15, 1907 to the parentage ofHerbert and Julia Butler Fitzhugh. Upon the death ofhis mother, he move.d to Macon, Georgia at an early age, and was reared by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob T. Butler. He was educated in the Public Schools of Bibb County.
He was united in marriage to Mary Henry Irwin on October 14, 1929. To this union three sons were born, one of whom preceded him in death.
He has been a life long member ofSt. Paul A.M.E. Church. He served diligently with faith, devotion and concern in various capacities over the years, including the Trustee Board, Sunday School and Building Committee. He spent his entire career as a Brick mason and as a Masonry Foreman for several of the leading General Contractors in Macon and Middle Georgia. He was one of the chartering members who helped establish the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craft, Local No. 4 of Georgia. He served as the local president for many years and served in various leadership roles with both the Georgia State Conference and the International Union. He was also active in the Elks for many years.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Those who shared in his life had an adventure that will be cherished and loved forever. On December 31, 1993, "The Master's will was done."
He leaves to rejoice in his memory: his wife, Mary H. Fitzhugh, Macon, Ga; two sons, Julian A. Fitzhugh, San Ramon, Ca., Anderson E. Fitzhugh, Glendale, Az.; two daughters-in-law, Bonnie Nusbaum-Fitzhugh, San Ramon, Ca., and Frances Fitzhugh, Glendale, Az.; nine grandchildren, Michele Craig, Lisa Fitzhugh, Bryan Fitzhugh, Kenneth Fitzhugh all of Phoenix, Az., Jerita Rainey ofMacon, Ga., Donald Fitzhugh ofFlint Mi., Gregory Fitzhugh ofAlbany, Ga., Jeffery Jones Fitzhugh and Ashley Jones Fitzhugh of San Ramon, Ca.; and seven great grandchildren.
