In this scrapbook created October 1949, local Dalton boosters compete to win the Georgia Power Company's Champion Home Town Contest. Created under the umbrella of Dalton's ad hoc Champion Home Town Steering Committee, the scrapbook was one of several documents, reports, and exhibits submitted for evaluation by the Georgia Power Company. The scrapbook includes photographs, newspaper clippings, original illustrations, and typescript documents created by club and civic community leaders to illustrate progress in the following categories: business and industry, health and sanitation, education, tourism and recreation, agriculture, municipal development, advertising and publicity, transportation, housing and civic improvement, and housing and civic improvement.
