Description
This collection consists of manifests of slaves shipped from Savannah to various ports. The manifests, originating in the Port of Savannah, list the slave's first name, gender, age, height, owner, and residence; the name of the vessel and its master, the outbound and inbound ports, and the date. The ships listed on the manifests include the Alabama, Seabrook, and the Cecile., The Port of Savannah, founded in 1733, acted as one of the largest eastern ports of North America, and exported the first bale of cotton from the colonies to England in 1764.
