The tradition of adding Christmas lights to the Courthouse began in 1934 with seven strings of lights. Each year hundreds of lights cascade down from the top of the courthouse. Santa continues to turn them on each Thanksgiving Eve. The lights continue to brighten the Square every evening until New Year. Text on reverse: Moultrie, Georgia – The lights of the Colquitt County Courthouse at Christmas adds much to the beauty and serene surroundings of the area.
